Covid 19 Update

Hi everyone, Mark and Louise here.

We really hope you, your family and friends are doing ok during this challenging time.

Life has changed and we are all going to have to adapt in to a new normal going forward to keep ourselves safe and well. With that in mind here is an update as to where we are as a local business going to proceed over the coming weeks/months.

As we look at reopening on the 15th June for now, we will be operating on an appointment only basis, the way it will work is as follows:

Email us at: lancasterbedcompany@gmail.com / Facebook message from today or ring from the 15th June on 01524 874382 to arrange an appointment to browse. These appointments will be for a maximum of one hour, we decided on an hour as on average a high percentage of customers gather enough information and try different mattresses etc., in one hour. As our customers know, we have a very relaxed no pressure approach, whilst some customers decide on one visit, others like to get the information they need, go away and think about it at home. We understand choosing the right mattress/bed is an important one as we spend a lot of our lives in bed.

We will be keeping our distance from you, don’t be offended, this is to protect our family and yours … let’s be honest here, we don’t want to get ill and I am sure you don’t either.

Hand sanitiser will be available on entry/exit to our store and each appointment will have their own clean sheet (to put on the beds) and their own pillow with clean pillowcase on. The sheets and pillowcases will be washed after each appointment (we are looking at disposable options also). The relevant surfaces will be cleaned before and after each appointment.

Our local delivery service will continue with some changes, we will still offer to put/build (divan sets only) your purchase in the room of your choice but obviously we strictly request that you keep at least 2 metres away from our delivery team. Our team will use sanitiser before and after each delivery and we would suggest customers clean the relevant doors/handles that they may have touched or we can come to another arrangement if preferred i.e. leave in garage or at front door etc. It goes without saying should you be self-isolating and are due a delivery you must contact us to rearrange.

Our manufacturers have also had a challenging time with most of them closing fully when we did and not opening to any kind of capacity until the shops open on the 15th June hopefully. They are having to adapt their factories like all manufacturing, it will be a phased return over the coming weeks/months so as you will appreciate, we aren’t necessarily going to get stock as quick as we used to. This is the same for everybody so we are all going to have to be patient whilst we all get back on our feet.

One last point is that we cannot predict the future, if lockdown is tightened and our factories have to close again this will obviously have a knock on effect on all orders, hopefully that won’t happen but it could. This is the new normal at the moment, so we all need to be patient.

I know it is a lengthy update and some of it might be adjusted going forward but it just gives a rough idea as to where we are at the moment.
